FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is vaping?

Vaping is the inhalation and exhalation of vapour when using an electronic cigarette / vaporiser. It is the evolution of smoking, replacing many negative associations with the old habit of tobacco combustion. The technical term for vapour is called liquid aerosol, it can be compared to how a kettle heats up liquid like water and produces a steam vapour.

OR

Vaping is the act of inhaling a vaporized liquid from an electronic device. The vapor commonly contains nicotine, flavoring and other chemicals. Some vape juice can contain THC, the chemical in marijuana that makes the user feel “high.”

Who is vaping designed for?

Anybody aged over 18 years old who wishes to have a safer alternative to smoking traditional tobacco products. Some products contain nicotine.

Federal and state laws raised the minimum legal sales age for tobacco products, including vape, from 18 to 21. However, many young people can still get products from older peers, and age restrictions at retail stores are not always enforced.

Is vaping healthier than smoking cigarettes?

Though some may claim vaping is less dangerous than traditional cigarettes, that doesn’t mean that vaping is safe. In other words, “safer” doesn’t mean safe. Studies have shown that the aerosol vapor can contain dangerous toxins, including heavy metals and chemicals known to cause cancer and other diseases.

To create flavors, vape manufacturers mix chemicals that are harmful when inhaled, regardless of whether there’s nicotine. The chemicals can damage the heart, lungs, and immune system.

In addition, most vape products contain nicotine, which is highly addictive. Human brain development continues far longer than was previously realized (until age 25), and nicotine use during adolescence and young adulthood has been associated with lasting brain impairments, including effects on memory and attention.

There are hundreds of vape products on the market today, and some are owned by big tobacco companies, which have a history of prioritizing sales over safety.

Do vapes list all the ingredients they contain on the pack?

Vapes are often labelled incorrectly and can contain nicotine, even when they claim not to. The ingredients listed on vape packaging are commonly inaccurate and/or incomplete.

Although vape packaging might list some ingredients, it may not include all chemicals in the vapour. Researchers have found that many of the substances identified in vapes were contaminants from either the e-liquid, the device itself, or emissions following heating of the e-liquid.

Below are some of the chemicals that have been found in vapes. These chemicals are not listed on the pack:

  • 2-chlorophenol used in disinfectant/cleaning products and insecticide
  • Acetone used in nail polish remover
  • Pulegone used in insecticide
  • Acrolein used in herbicides

Australian research has examined vapes to determine their content. Researchers have found a range of chemicals – many of them harmful.

ABC News published a story about the 'suite of chemicals' in the liquids used in vapes, some at 'dangerously high' levels.

2021 Australian research  analysed 65 samples of Australian e-liquids labelled as 'non-nicotine'. Every sample contained at least one potentially harmful chemical and all samples were mislabelled, highlighting concerns that consumers are misinformed. Six of the samples contained nicotine, despite being marketed as nicotine-free. They found most of the substances found in vapes are not identified on the pack, raising concerns about what people are inhaling.

How do I refill a clearomizer?

Generally refilling your tank is an easy process. Depending on the device you are using, the method may be slightly different. On the basic starter kits, you simply remove the top (also known as a Drip Tip or the mouth piece) and send the liquid into the tank.

Other clearomisers require you to unscrew the base and refill the tank from the bottom. It is important to avoid the middle part of your device because that is the chimney to your mouth piece and you do not want e-juice spilling out as you attempt to re-fill. So always aim for the sides of the tank or where appropriate depending on your product.

To find out how to clean and maintain the quality of your tank check out our blog post “How to maintain your vape: Cleaning the clearomizer”

How do I choose the vaping product that’s right for me?

We always recommend starting with one of our starter kits which you can find here After using a starter kit you will be in the best position to know whether you would benefit from upgrading in the future depending on your vaping preferences.

Can I return products and get a refund if unsatisfied?

No – issues mean we cannot accept returns based on satisfaction. Our vape kits come with 3 month manufacturing fault warranties. All our clearomizer and atomizers have a ‘Dead on Arrival’ return policy.
